OCC Construction’s Development for The Shannon Airport Group has been awarded the Industrial Project of the Year at the Irish Construction Industry Awards (ICIA) last week. This recognition highlights OCC Construction’s continued commitment to excellence, sustainability, and innovation, marking yet another proud achievement for the company, which has been honoured for outstanding work on other projects in recent years.
Located in the Shannon Free Zone, Block R is a state-of-the-art 40,000-square-foot advanced manufacturing facility and the centerpiece of the Shannon Airport Group’s rejuvenation masterplan, including an additional architecturally striking office block, collaborative spaces, and a stunning feature courtyard.
Designed to support technology-driven industries, the development incorporates modern and sustainable construction practices and stands out for its Nearly Zero Energy Building (NZEB) A-rating and anticipated LEED Silver certification.
With sustainability at its core, the facility features rainwater harvesting, photovoltaic solar panels, and green outdoor spaces that reflect a forward-thinking approach to industrial development. The OCC Construction team achieved over 58,000 hours of accident-free work, underscoring their dedication to safety and quality throughout the project.
