Project Description:
An Cliathán is a 15 unit sheltered housing scheme built for Galway City Council at Ballybaan Mór in Galway City.
The development consists of two residential blocks constructed on a narrow suburban site in an established residential area. The project was developed as part of the Local Government strategy to provide “Quality Housing for Sustainable Communities”. Block 1 to the rear of the site contains 12 no. units which are primarily intended for older residents and Block 2 to the front of the site contains 3 no. units which are intended for families with a member with special needs. The buildings have a landscaped communal courtyard and were constructioned using traditional masonry paving particular attention being paid to robust and durable detailing.
