Project Description:

OCC Construction has commenced works on the redevelopment of the former Our Lady’s Hermitage building at the Marist College site in Athlone, Co. Westmeath, delivering 55 new age-friendly homes for older persons.

The project is being delivered for Tuath Housing, in partnership with Westmeath County Council, with funding support from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage through the Capital Assistance Scheme.

The development combines the careful refurbishment and conservation of the existing protected historic building with new-build residential accommodation, creating a modern, high-quality living environment while preserving an important element of Athlone’s architectural heritage.

Once complete, the scheme will provide sustainable, accessible homes designed to support independent living, ageing in place and the specific needs of older residents. Particular attention will be given throughout construction to the sensitive integration of the new accommodation with the existing historic fabric of the site.

The project reflects OCC Construction’s experience in delivering high-quality residential developments within complex and sensitive environments, combining heritage conservation, modern construction methods and sustainable housing delivery to create long-term value for residents and the wider community.
