OCC Construction Commences Works at Marist College, Athlone
OCC Construction has commenced works on the redevelopment of the former Our Lady’s Hermitage building at the Marist College site in Athlone, Co. Westmeath, where the project will deliver 55 new age-friendly homes for older persons.
The development is being delivered for Tuath Housing, in partnership with Westmeath County Council, with support from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage through the Capital Assistance Scheme.
The project will involve the careful refurbishment and conservation of the existing protected historic building, together with the delivery of new-build residential accommodation. The completed development will provide high-quality, accessible homes designed to support independent living and meet the needs of older residents and those requiring additional housing support.
A key focus throughout the works will be the sensitive integration of the new accommodation with the existing historic fabric of the site, ensuring the character and heritage of the former Our Lady’s Hermitage building is retained while creating a modern, sustainable residential environment.
The project further strengthens OCC Construction’s growing portfolio of social and affordable housing developments and reflects our experience in delivering complex residential projects that combine heritage conservation, sustainability and high-quality construction.
We look forward to working closely with Tuath Housing, Westmeath County Council and the wider project team to successfully deliver this important development for the Athlone community.
