Senior Quantity Surveyor (West & Midlands)

Senior Quantity Surveyor (Galway/Athlone)

OCC Construction, a well-established main contractor based in Galway, is currently seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead the delivery of residential and commercial projects across the West of Ireland.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a forward-thinking Irish contractor delivering high quality local projects.  If you are looking for a Senior QS role with excellent career development, this could be the right role for you.

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead cost control, commercial reporting, and financial oversight across multiple projects
  • Play a key role in the commercial leadership team, contributing to strategic project decisions and mentoring junior surveyors.
  • Prepare and manage contract documentation (PWC, RIAI), subcontractor packages, and payment certs
  • Evaluate and negotiate subcontractor tenders, variations, and claims.
  • Lead procurement strategy, including negotiation of supplier terms and timely ordering.
  • Conduct site valuations and ensure commercial compliance with ISO and IMS standards.
  • Provide monthly cost reporting and support commercial scorecard submissions.
  • Collaborate with site teams to align budgets with project milestones and delivery schedules.
  • Play a key role in the commercial leadership team, contributing to strategic project decisions and mentoring junior surveyors

Key Requirements

  • Degree qualified Quantity Surveyor with 5+ years’ experience, ideally in main contracting.
  • Proven expertise in commercial management, contract administration (PWC, RIAI), and cost control.
  • Strong knowledge of subcontractor account management and procurement processes.
  • In-depth understanding of Irish construction regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Proficient in Excel; experience with Cubit, Procore, and Asta is an advantage.
  • Excellent negotiation, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

  • Evaluate, negotiate, and process subcontractor variations and claims
  • Attend site meetings and oversee subcontractor performance and compliance
  • Maintain all commercial and contractual documentation for audit and scorecard reporting

Key Requirements

  • Degree qualified Quantity Surveyor with 2+ years’ experience (ideally main contracting)
  • Strong experience with PWC and RIAI contracts.
  • Solid knowledge of subcontractor account management and commercial control
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in excel, Cubit experience is an advantage.

Salary

  • €40,000 – €50,000 DOE

  • Comfortable using IT Tools and construction management platforms.

  • Strong leadership, organisation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.

  • Prepares and submits reports and other paperwork in a timely manner.

  • Positively liaising with your mentor on your continuous professional development.
